Congregation of St. Saviour - Lenten Retreat
The Way of the Cross
Mariandale Retreat Center - March 9-11, 2018
Facilitator: The Reverend Deacon Kent J. Curtis
Please join us for the annual Lenten Retreat for the Congregation of St. Saviour. This year we will use a book entitled Meditations on The Way of the Cross as our guide. This book was co-authored by Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Brother Roger, founder of an ecumenical Christian monastic order in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. In this retreat, we will use the book for reflection and as a meditation guide to aid us as we embark on our own journey on The Way of the Cross. Additionally, we will use some of the most poignant and beautiful music written by the Taizé Community as a way to frame our time of shared reflection and lively discussion.
Deacon Kent Curtis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty-seven years experience in the field of mental health, HIV/AIDS, aging, spirituality, and substance abuse. He was ordained to the vocational diaconate on November 2, 1996 at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver. The overall focus of his ordained ministry has been with seniors, persons living with HIV, grief and loss, and those experiencing homelessness or less than secure housing. His role at the Cathedral includes serving liturgically, preaching, consulting with Cathedral Community Cares, and offering educational outreach and opportunities such as forums on Mental Health, Death and Dying, and ministry to those living with HIV. We are honored to have him lead us in this our annual Lenten Retreat.
