Ordination of Bowie Snodgrass

Almighty God, the giver of all good gifts, in your divine
providence you have appointed various orders in your
Church: Give your grace, we humbly pray, to all who are
[now] called to any office and ministry for your people; and so
fill them with the truth of your doctrine and clothe them with
holiness of life, that they may faithfully serve before you, to
the glory of your great Name and for the benefit of your holy
Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
for ever. Amen. Collect for those to be Ordained (BCP 256)

Dear Cathedral Friends and Congregation,

This Saturday at 10:30 AM, Bowie Snodgrass will be ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral. All are welcome and strongly encouraged to attend.

Bowie has been serving at Calvary-St. George since 2014 and is now beginning as curate at Christ Church in Short Hills, NJ - so some of you may not know her. However, she has called this place her home for years - having married her husband George Mathew here in 2009 and baptized their son Jacob in the Baptistry in 2011. This place and congregation served as her spiritual home - having been a founding member of the Order of Urban Missioners and having served on several congregational committees, in the liturgy as a lay leader, as a pastoral presence in the healing ministry, and in building community as the co-convener of the 20s and 30s Connection.

Bowie is going forth from this place with our prayers and tremendous thankfulness - both for the ministry she provided here and the ministry she continues to take forth into the world. She serves as a tangible example of how this place and the Congregation have the ability to transform lives and share the love of Christ with each person who crosses the threshold of the building. And even more, the Cathedral and Congregation have an equal or greater ability to do that through all the people who take Christ with them from this place and from this community into the world.

At her ordination, Bowie will be vested with a chasuble given by this Congregation. I hope you will be there to witness the occasion and share in the prayers and celebration of the ministry of God through Bowie and through so many others.

In the meanwhile, you have my prayers.
Mary

A Note from Bowie

Thank you so very to the Congregation of Saint Saviour for being a loving and supportive church family to me, George, and Jacob since 2004! I am so very thankful to be sponsored for ordination from Saint Saviour and deeply appreciate the gift of my very first chasuble, which I will wear for the first time at my ordination to the priesthood on Saturday, October 15 at 10:30 am at our Cathedral.  I hope that many of you can join us for this celebration!
