Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to
love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among
things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall
endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Collect for Proper 21 (Last Sunday and this week)
Dear Cathedral Friends and Congregations,
This Sunday, September 25th, is Volunteer Sunday. This is when we celebrate everyone who makes this a grand place to visit, a meaningful place to worship, and a welcoming place to call home. All are invited to celebrate our common life together. This is also a time to think about ways that you may want to get more involved or explore new opportunities, and all sorts of opportunities are below. All these volunteers from all these different aspects represent dedicated individuals but also show the wide array of ways that this place and community can be a place for those here now and the wide array of ways that people seek a spiritual home in this place of prayer for all people.
There is also an array of formation opportunities beginning and transforming as well as an opportunity to welcome all those who come to the Cathedral Sundays and other times. I hope you will visit those and contribute your thoughts and hopes for what our communal life is and can become.
In the meanwhile, you have my prayers.

Welcoming Committee & Cathedral Services
Welcoming Committee & Coffee Hour
Starting on September 25th, we will hopefully be moving coffee hour to the middle of the Church, near where the priests great people at the end of the service. That will only be possible if more people volunteer who feel a special call toward welcoming people - people leaving the liturgy, tourists wondering what the liturgy is, and everyone in between - and setting up and preparing the table. If you are interested in coordinating this, volunteering on an occasional basis, or would like to talk more, please contact Mother Mary.
Cathedral Visitor Services
Those at Cathedral Visitor services have asked if anyone in the Congregation would be interested in volunteering to welcome people to the Cathedral throughout the week. If you are interested in taking part in that ministry of hospitality, please contact Mother Mary, and she will put you in touch.
Our previous website came with expenses and a limited ability to update. Thanks to a service of the Diocese of New York, we are given new (free) website hosting services that allow for easier and broader updates. If in the update anything is missed or you have any suggestions, please feel free to submit those concerns.
Every day at the Cathedral offers at least three different opportunities to worship. For more information and for changes, see the Cathedral website. To get involved or learn more contact Mother Mary, Interim Pastor and Vicar.
