The Congregation Mission Statement

We are a family of Christians, drawn together by a common mission:
"To build and nurture an active Christian community; to support the mission of the Cathedral; to offer opportunities for exploring and expressing spirituality, affirming the diversities that exist among us; above all, through worship, service, and example, to bear witness to Christ's healing and reconciling love to neighbors, pilgrims, and visitors."

Prayer Tree
Do you know about the Prayer Tree?

The Congregation has an email Prayer Tree. Members of the Prayer Tree pray and offer thanks for the needs of others. When you send a prayer request to PrayerTreeSJD@aol.com, it is posted to the Prayer Tree. Members then pray for your concerns. You can become a member of the Prayer Tree, too.

The Prayer Tree is confidential. If you would like to add a name to the Cathedral's prayer list of people who are prayed for at services, please call the Congregation Office at 212-316-7483, or email PrayerTreeSJD@aol.com.

You can learn more about intercessory prayer by reading "The Practice of Prayer" by Margaret Guenther. It is available at the Cathedral Shop. The Catechism section on Prayer and Worship, page 856 of the "Book of Common Prayer", also is helpful.
